At LSHTM, the Taught Programme Director has oversight of all teaching in their Faculty. In ITD this means 9 M.Sc. programmes, 3 Professional Diploma Programmes, over 40 modules and several non-credit-bearing short courses. The TPD is a member ex officio of the Faculty Management Group, Senate, and the Senate teaching-related subcommittees Learning and Teaching Committee and Quality and Standards Committee, as well as the School-wide Teaching Management Group that deals largely with operational issues. In addition, the TPD is a member ex officio of all Programme Committees and M.Sc. Exam boards in their faculties. The TPD is an full time position and reports to both the Dean of Faculty and the Pro-Director (Learning and Teaching) (formerly Dean of Studies).
Associate Dean of Education (Quality, Academic Standards and Collaborative Provision):2014-present
Associate Dean of Education is a School-wide strategic role now rated at 0.5x full Time Equivalent (FTE). As the name suggests, this Associate Dean role covers academic aspects of quality and standards with extra focus on collaborative provision because of the added complexities of such teaching provision. The Associate Dean reports to thhe Pro-Director (Learning and Teaching). The role holder is expected to:
  • Provide academic leadership for Quality, Academic Standards and Collaborative Provision, working closely with the Head of Quality & Academic Standards;
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the School’s Strategy;
  • Support the work of the Pro-Director (Learning and Teaching) and deputise for the Pro-Director;
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to safeguard and improve the quality and success of the School’s Education Portfolio;
  • Support academic staff and professional services teams in their engagement with and development of a quality culture and good practice in course developments, approvals, reviews and improvement.
  • Develop, operate and monitor the various mechanisms by which the School assures the quality and supports the enhancement of its academic provision, including that delivered with its collaborative partners in the UK and internationally.
